Last Labor Day weekend, Craig Camp, Managing Partner at Cornerstone Wine Cellars, graciously invited me to visit the tasting room in Yountville and I was happy to accept. The tasting room is quite lovely, although I would have loved to have visited some of the places where the wines are produced. I parked on the street and walked down to the tasting room where I was warmly greeted by the tasting room associate, although I arrived about 30 minutes before closing. I opted to taste a mix of both the Stepping Stone and Cornerstone Cellars wines and after many Cabernet/red tastings at other venues earlier in the day, I found myself drawn to the refreshing 2009 Stepping Stone Red Hills Lake County Rosé Corallina, 50% Grenache, 50% Syrah. It is a lovely Rosé by Stepping Stone’s winemaker Jeff Keene.
Note: This year’s offering, the 2010 Stepping Stone by Cornerstone Corallina Napa Valley Syrah Rosé, is 100% Syrah sourced from the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley.
